Baby O Turns 1!

When you have a fast-paced, life-loving, personality-extraordinaire little girl, you can bet it's going to make for a pretty fantastic first birthday.

and it did

Things started when Grammy and Opa came into town and lavished O with her very own beanbag chair.

She's been keen on throwing herself into Q's beanbag since the day she could. And Q's been just as keen on throwing her out of it... so, it was time for her own.

Which of course made Q realize that she could share hers after all.

Super cute, right? Until you realize she may have had alterier motives...

The only thing more fun than a new beanbag chair is, of course, the box the beanbag chair came in.

The girls commissioned Daddy and Grammy to be their general contractors and were able to convert that box into a house on a surprisingly low budget.

The box-house was a definite hit at O's birthday party. Turns out you can fit a LOT of little kids in a single box.

Other birthday party highlights included O coming dressed as a flapper. Because you can get away with those sorts of things on your birthday.

And the decorations and food weren't so bad, if I do say so myself. I went for a rainbow theme. The bold and bright colors seemed to suit O nicely.

I maybe got a bit too excited about the rainbow theme. I even made rainbow bread for goodness' sake

And I dressed the part, too

I didn't have any concerns about O not liking her birthday cake. She spent half the previous day doing everything in her little power to get her paws on the cake batter.

She was very dangerously interested in the candle

Oh, and speaking of dressing the part, check out my sweet rainbow hair. That's how much birthday parties mean to me

Right on cue, O dived in and made a rightful mess with the frosting. 'Atta girl!

...and then she crashed out for the rest of the day. Who could ask for a better birthday?

Thanks, O, for bringing such a sunshiney, exciting energy to our family! You remind us every day how to laugh simply because somebody else is laughing, how to properly cuddle (and to flirt), how to express yourself without using a single word, and how to be excited about every. little. tiny. thing.

You're fantastic. I love you more than measly little words and pictures on a blog can ever say. But that doesn't mean I won't try to say it anyway.

Happy Birthday, sweet girl!
xoxo
